Winter Park, Florida ... October, 2009 - Lance Walker, Jr., Vice President of Central Florida based Walker & Company Inc., announced project updates in Central Florida.  Walker & Company is celebrating its 35th year as a leader in the Central Florida construction industry.

Walker & Company has begun work on the St. James Cathedral in downtown Orlando for the Catholic Diocese of Orlando.  The comprehensive renovation project will restore much of the 16,000 s.f. church to its original appearance when it was built in 1952.  The project also includes over 4,500 s.f. of new construction and exterior improvements throughout the campus.  The St. James project marks Walker & Company’s 27th project with the Diocese.

Walker & Company has recently completed two renovation projects.  The remodel of Elizabeth Hall at Rollins College in Winter Park took place over the summer and included the complete renovation of the lobby, student lounge and common areas.  Exterior upgrades included replacement of all windows, a new facade and entrance to the Student Housing Project.  A new parking lot and vehicle entrance loop were also part of the improvements to the campus.  Walker & Company has constructed projects for Rollins College since 1983.

The 8,000 s.f. renovation of the Cooper, Simms, Nelson and Mosley Insurance Office in Winter Park included the demolition of the existing interior space to make way for a completely new, more functional office space.  Exterior upgrades were also accomplished to update the building’s curb appeal.  Work was sequenced in the building to keep the insurance office in operation throughout construction.  Baker Barrios Architects of Orlando designed the project for the Owner.  Walker & Company was the original contractor for the building constructed in 1977.
